#contentsites
I’ve got my first batch of content from Content at Scale for the poker authority site I’m building out on a really strong, aged domain I got from Odys.
This is a case study site to show what can happen when you invest in a domain (with existing authority) and a huge amount of content to become the topical authority in a niche.
I’m not doing any back linking with this site; in fact, I’m personally not doing anything at all.
Odys built the wordpress installation, added some old content that was on the previous site (before the domain dropped), and set up redirects on pages where links are coming in. And Content at Scale is doing all keyword research/grouping and content creation/publishing.
This is passive website investing, no website operator required. And at the end of this, I’ll be listing the site for sale on Flippa.
9 posts have been published so far, which is obviously not a lot, but 76 are pending within wordpress about to be made live which is super exciting:
Content at Scale last month made the difficult decision to suspend all of their client's billing in order to focus solely on improving their AI to deliver better results. And serial entrepreneur Justin McGill, the founder states:
I'm happy to say that last week we finally had our breakthrough and are now back to ramping up content production. 😀
Me & Justin actually go way back. In 2015 I had launched my first podcast called Bootstrap Duel (you really are an OG if you remember that) and he launched a similar one called Zero to Scale. Justin has since had a lot of success in SaaS with his startup LeadFuze and is now focussed on serving content site owners and agencies with the best value content, written by AI and edited by humans.
I’m setting up an AMA with Justin about Content at Scale within the new Alts by Flippa Stage in the Discord in the next couple of weeks…
Alts by Flippa Stage - AMA with Koia
I’ve created a stage channel in the Discord to host regular events with experts in different alternative asset classes.
The first event is this coming Monday 14th March at 6pm UK time: an AMA with Richard Draper, the co-founder of Koia.
Koia are opening up access to new asset classes through fractional ownership via NFTs. The event will be a discussion between two Richards and then we’ll open it up to questions where we can bring members up on stage.
Koia are doing their first drop soon which is a Rolex 2018 GMT-Master II Pepsi. I’ve always wanted a Rolex but was always worried that I’d get jumped in the street. I’ll be jumping on buying fractions of it instead.
#newsletters
Substack, the platform we use for this newsletter (co-founded by Chris Best & Hamish McKenzie) just launched an app for iOS that lets subscribers read content outside of email.
With the app, you’ll have a dedicated Inbox where new posts will never get lost in your email filters, or stuck in spam, and longer posts will never cut-off by your email app.
This is actually huge for a publisher like us as it means Substack literally just created a brand new traffic channel on top of email. It could also mean that more people move their email provider over to Substack due to potentially being able to reach a larger audience.
Using the app reminds me of Google Reader which got axed, and you can actually add any RSS feed to the app via Substack Reader:
Ok this is great Richard, but what’s this got to do with investing?!
Well I’ve actually sold/had acquired two different substack newsletters and I’m thinking that this will make them a far more attractive asset class going forward - it’s certainly something I’m going to be exploring.

NFT floors have been sliding for quite some time as can be seen by this chart over at The Nifty:
Mutant Apes are back under 15ETH again with their volume halving over the last 24 hours.
I wonder if the BAYC token will actually launch this month (as it was stated would happen in Q1) or whether this will be like Coinbase saying they will be launching their NFT marketplace in 2021…
One commentator is calling this the “death” phase of the NFT Macro Life Cycle:
If that sounds bad, don’t worry (!) as the TLDR is that this is the final phase right before the next bull market.
Ok that’s it for this week.

Alts by Flippa is owned by Flippa. Nothing in this email is financial advice and we are not professional investment advisers. We send weekly updates on what we're doing personally - consider it informational and for entertainment purposes only.
A good read, thanks Richard. Re: newsletters. Perhaps buying, growing and flipping newsletters will become the next niche business?
"Odys built the wordpress installation, added some old content that was on the previous site (before the domain dropped)"
Interesting! No copyright issues here? Curious to know what's the "usual feeling" about that on the english market. Def a big NO NO for French sites as it's quickly a legal issue to republish content without previous owner's approval.
