There’s a decent chance, even if you had not read last week’s newsletter on buying NFTs for their utility, that you have now heard of Moonbirds.

It blew up Twitter (and not just crypto Twitter).

Founded by Kevin Rose (who I’ve been following since his Diggnation days), it’s the first NFT project by an entrepreneurial product team that have already had huge success in web2 business and investing.

I had a 1/4 chance to win the raffle to mint a Moonbird for 2.5ETH:

There are 32,000 wallets registered for the @moonbirds_xyz raffle. Assuming they’re holding 2.5 ETH, that’s $240M in unspent cash. Only 25% will win the raffle, so $180M is getting ready to fly into the market in some capacity. The next few days are gonna be fun.

And I was one of the fortunate ones:

Within hours the floor got to 10ETH and Kevin published a short video of gratitud where he states:

We see this as day 1, the very beginning of what’s going to be a multi decade journey to build a new media company

Super interesting to me how he is describing this as a media company.

And as of this morning, the floor is now over 20ETH:

I mentioned in last week’s email, I now only buy NFTs for utility (ok Kureiji would have been a flip if it had gone the right way but no more!).

As such, as much as I love Gary Vee, the utility of Veefriends Season 2 isn’t enough for me:

Gary said himself in the VaynerSports Pass (which I bought in last week’s email) Discord that utility will be limited:

I also finally bought the The Nifty Portal NFT for community access, but mainly as find the content that Nick, Pio & Kix put out hilarious.

One NFT software tool I discovered there is NFT Nerds which has a NFT membership limited to 96 passes currently trading at over 4 ETH. As you may know, I love this model for #microsaas businesses and with over 400 ETH total trading volume to date with 5 or so trades a week and assuming something like a 7% royalty, this is likely a lucrative business.

And news just in, Coinbase has just launched their NFT marketplace in beta:

Michael Michelini from Sky Include dropped a great website post/video on how he’s creating Handshake websites in 2022 using Cloudways. To connect the hosting to a HNS domain you can use hshub for DNS (similar to Cloudflare). Mike also has a great service where he will port over your existing website into Handshake.
